Cape Henry loses in state title game, falls to Paul VI Catholic

PETERSBURG, Va. (WAVY) – The Cape Henry boys basketball team lost its first game of the season Saturday, and it was a costly one. The Dolphins were defeated by Paul VI Catholic out of Fairfax in the VISAA Division 1 state championship game.

Paul VI built a 16-point lead in the first half, but Cape Henry finally went on a run and closed to within 2.

That’s as close as the Dolphins would get as Paul VI wins the state title 64-56.

“I told them it’s nothing to hang their heads down about,” Cape Henry coach Mark Hall told the Sportswrap.

“26-1 is a miraculous year, we were prepared but we  lost to a very good nationally ranked basketball program.”
