HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) — Contracts have been awarded for 15 road construction and paving projects across the Commonwealth, including two in Hampton Roads.
The Commonwealth Transportation Board awarded the contracts, which are worth about $144.6 million, this month. The Virginia Department of Transportation says the projects will help improve traffic flow, benefit safety and extend the life of state roads and bridges.
One of the projects is on Interstate 264 between Broadcreek Bridge and Railroad Bridge west off Witchduck Road in Norfolk and Virginia Beach. The pavement work was awarded to Virginia Paving Co. for $7.3 million.
The other local project is in New Kent County. $13.9 million was awarded to Lee Hy Paving Corporation to rehabilitate about 15 miles of pavement on Interstate 64 east between Airport Road and the James City County line.
