Around 2:25 p.m., a white man wearing an orange hat entered Southern Bank at 3720 Virginia Beach Boulevard and handed a note to a teller demanding money, according to Tonya Borman with the Virginia Beach Police Department.

After the man was given cash, he fled the building on foot in an unknown direction.

Borman said the man is about six feet tall with thin facial hair. He was wearing a dark-colored shirt and blue jeans.

Shortly after broadcasting the information, Crime Line tips flooded in. Officers were able to identify the suspect as James Daniel Phillip Conley, 30, of Virginia Beach, Borman said Friday.
