JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – A car crashed into a James City County restaurant Thursday morning near Williamsburg Pottery, according to Major Stephen Rubino with James City County Police.

Rubino said a 77-year-old driver ran into the Au Bon Pain restaurant located at 6692 Richmond Rd. at 11:30 a.m.

The driver told police she was in the parking lot and thought her vehicle was in ‘park.’ She stepped on the accelerator, causing the vehicle to jump the curb, knock down some patio fencing and crash into the restaurant wall.

Rubino said patrons were inside the Au Bon Pain at the time of the crash, but no one, including the driver, was injured.

Fire officials checked the structured, and it was deemed safe.

Police said there are no charges pending against the driver.
