Police make arrest in Suffolk vehicle theft

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk Police arrested a man they believe may be linked to several recent vehicle thefts.

Currently, Peter Michael Vanderlinden, 30, is charged in connection with a vehicle theft that occurred Saturday night in the 5000 block of Hunt Club Chase in the Steeplechase neighborhood. Police say the vehicle was left unlocked, with the keys inside.

The next morning, officers tracked down the stolen vehicle in a Walgreen’s parking lot at the intersection of Bridge and Shoulders Hill Roads and arrested Vanderlinden. He is charged with grand larceny and possession of burglary tools. Police spokeswoman Diana Klink says investigators discovered personal identification on Vanderlinden believed to have been stolen from other vehicles.

If you live in the area of Bennetts Creek Park Road and had anything stolen from your vehicle between Feb. 22 and Feb. 23, police ask that you call the non-emergency number at 923-2350, option 0.

The investigation continues and additional charges may be filed.
