Man accused of pointing gun at another driver

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – A 42-year-old man is in police custody after officers say he pointed a handgun at another driver Tuesday morning.

Kelly O’Sullivan with the Chesapeake Police Department said officers were dispatched to the area of Moses Grandy Trail and Shipyard Road just before 8 a.m. for a report of a man in a white pickup truck who pointed a gun at another man driving an SUV.

A traffic stop of the pickup truck revealed the driver had a handgun, O’Sullivan said. The driver, identified as Richard Maund of Virginia Beach, was arrested and charged with brandishing a firearm.

Maund was taken to the jail and was subsequently released on a summons, O’Sullivan told WAVY.com.

O’Sullivan said details of the altercation remain under investigation. Further information was not immediately available.
