Resident displaced after house fire

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – One person has been displaced from a home after a residential fire in South Norfolk Monday afternoon.


At 1:35 p.m., firefighters were called to the 2600 block of Hemple Street for a report of a house fire, according to Captain Scott Saunders with the Chesapeake Fire Department. When they arrived, smoke was coming from a one-story house.

Crews were able to control the fire by 1:52 p.m., Saunders said. No one was injured, but one person was displaced from the home. The American Red Cross has been requested to assist.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
