NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Police have made three arrests after a 23-year-old woman said she was assaulted by her boyfriend and two others on Friday.

The Williamsburg woman told police that around 1 a.m. she was in the back seat of Lyndsey Sturgis’ vehicle with her boyfriend, Justin Hedgpeth. Sturgis was driving and Dolores Thompson was also in the vehicle.

Hedgpeth and the victim got into an argument and he punched her in the mouth before Sturgis and Thompson joined the assault.

The group then drove to Savannah Suites at 11715 Jefferson Ave. where Hedgpeth pushed the victim out of the vehicle and held her on the ground while Sturgis and Thompson again assaulted her. The three suspects left her there, taking her purse and cell phone.

The woman had bruises on her legs, cuts on her hands and below her eye and had hair missing from her head.

The investigating officer obtained warrants for abduction, malicious wounding by mob and grand larceny for each of the three suspects. Hedgpeth, 23, of Williamsburg, Sturgis, 27, of Newport News and Thompson, 40, of Newport News were arrested Monday.
