NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Church members and volunteers in Norfolk were busy packing thousands of meals Sunday.
Volunteers at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church used an assembly line to reach their goal of 12,000 meals in just two hours. It was all part of the third annual Stop Hunger Now event at the parish.
Meal preparation included dehydrated, nutritious meals for the international hunger relief agency.
“It’s amazing to know that this little group of people in Norfolk, Virginia are helping people who are hungry all over the world. The organization Stop Hunger Now makes it really easy to do that,” said Andie Rohrs, a volunteer.
To keep volunteers motivated, the group sounded a gong to mark every thousand meals completed.
