SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A tractor-trailer driver was injured in a crash along Route 460 in Suffolk early Thursday morning.
Around 1:30 Thursday morning, Suffolk Police were called to Route 460 (Pruden Boulevard) near Gardner Lane for a tractor-trailer accident.
According to Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk, the tractor-trailer driver lost control, ran off the road and hit a light pole. The driver, identified as 55-year-old Michael Perry Settle of Tennessee, was transported to Sentara Obici Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Dominion Power crews replaced the light pole that had been hit and reattached power lines. Klink said about eight customers were without power.
A second tractor trailer was brought to the scene as the load from the crashed tractor trailer was offloaded. The 18-wheeler was hauling about 24,000 pounds of empty pallets.
The eastbound lanes of Route 460 were closed for some time and Suffolk Public Works crews alternated eastbound and westbound traffic in the westbound lanes of Route 460. All lanes were back open by 11:30 a.m.
Settle was issued a summons for reckless driving.
