HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The Hampton Fire Division responded to a residential fire in the 2300 block of Bay Avenue Thursday evening.
According to Assistant Chief Jeffrey Pereira, crews were dispatched to the fire around 7 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters could see signs of the fire from the front of the home and located the flames in the ceiling near the front door.
The fire extended into the attic, but firefighters were able to extinguish the flames in about 15 to 20 minutes, Pereira said.
No one was injured, but five people were displaced from the home as a result of fire damage. The American Red Cross has been requested to assist the family.
The Hampton Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the origin and cause of the fire. Stay with WAVY.com for updates as they become available.
