Fire sparks in Newport News duplex

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – No injuries were reported in a duplex fire in Newport News Thursday afternoon.

The fire sparked before 1:30 p.m. in the 900 block of 28th Street, Assistant Fire Chief J. David Barrick said. Smoke was showing from the right side of the building.

Barrick said the fire was contained in the area of the utility closet.

No cause has been determined at this time. Further information was not immediately available.
