Police investigate attempted rape in James City County

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – Police in James City County are investigating an attempted rape after a teenager was attacked. Major Stephen Rubino with James City County Police said the incident happened on Sunday just before 9 p.m.

The 17-year-old victim told investigators she was walking in the 3800 block of Staffordshire Lane to meet someone for a ride when she was approached by two black males.

The victim told police the two males grabbed her, pulled her into the bushes, stole her cell phone and pushed her to the ground. One of the males pulled the victim’s sweat pants down, but she told police she was able to get away when one of the males answered a cell phone. The teenager had minor scratches, and did not require medical treatment.

The victim told police she believes one of the males spoke with a Jamaican accent. No additional information was released about the suspects.
