Speed was a factor in fatal Windsor crash

WINDSOR, Va. (WAVY) – A fatal vehicle crash in Windsor claimed the life of a woman Tuesday afternoon.

Virginia State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya said around 2:30 p.m., a trooper was dispatched to a single-vehicle crash in the 6000 block of West Blackwater Road. An investigation revealed a 2003 Honda Accord was traveling westbound when it ran off the road and struck a tree.

The driver, 52-year-old Rose Callahan McAlpine of Zuni, Va., died as a result of injuries received during the crash. No other people were in the vehicle.

Anaya said speed was a factor in the crash. Chopper 10 flew over the tragic scene. The video shows a dark vehicle bend around a tree adjacent to the road.

A section of West Blackwater Road was closed while the scene was investigated and cleared.
