More adoptions, euthanized animals at Chesapeake shelter

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — The number of animals put down at Chesapeake Animal Services has increased.

The statistic comes after WAVY.com told you how a number of volunteers spoke out after a pit bull was euthanized recently.

10 On Your Side crunched the numbers, and records show a 4.2 percent increase year to year. 2,098 animals were put down in 2012, compared to 2,187 in 2013.

Adoptions at the facility have also increased over that same time frame, by 44 percent.
