Admirals beat Crunch, sweep weekend series

Center Chris Wagner and wing Emerson Etam both scored goals in the first period, and the Norfolk Admirals swept the weekend series with a 2-1 win over the Syracuse Crunch on Saturday night.

Goalie John Gibson played logged over 39 minutes of action, saving 17 shots, but was denied his sixth shutout of the season when the crunch scored midway through the third period.

The game had its chippy moments following Friday night’s affair in which defenseman Jessee Blacker was knocked out for a few minutes from a vicious hit.

The Admirals travel to Charlotte for a Tuesday night game, and won’t be back at Scope until Feb. 26, when they take on
