CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – Western Branch schools were on lockdown Thursday after police say a school bus driver reported seeing a suspicious person in the area.

Kelly O’Sullivan with the Chesapeake Police Department said the bus driver told police he had seen man in his early 20s wearing desert camouflage and carrying a long gun in the area of Bruin Drive and Radcliffe Lane.

Western Branch schools were placed on lockdown. Police canvassed the area for about thirty minutes, but did not locate the individual.

The lockdown has since been lifted.
