NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Police are asking for help solving a nearly 8-month-old case involving a deadly hit-and-run.

Marcella Spain, 54, died in June 2013 when she was hit by a vehicle in the 300 block of Hilltop Drive in Newport News. The vehicle, described as a white pickup truck with an extended cab and a steel toolbox in the bed left the scene.

The vehicle was found two days after the deadly crash with extensive damage to the front of the truck. Following that discovery, a Newport News Police spokesperson told WAVY.com a detective had figured out who was driving the truck, but charges were pending.

Now, nearly eight months later, police say they have not located the driver of that truck. Police did not say what happened to that suspect officers had identified.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
