SURRY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – More than 20 hunting dogs stolen from Surry County and surrounding areas were found this past weekend.
Surry Sheriff Alvin W. Clayton told WAVY.com the dogs are all beagles. He said some of the dogs came from Isle of Wight and Southampton Counties in addition to Surry. The sheriff’s office is assisting Animal Control with the investigation.
Sheriff Clayton said they are unsure just how many people are involved in the thefts. No one has been arrested at this time.
The dogs were being sold online. The animals are now being cared for at the Surry County pound.
Investigators did not disclose where the dogs were recovered.
