PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Portsmouth City Council voted and agreed Tuesday that passengers will foot the bill for taxi rides through the Downtown or Midtown tunnels.
No City Council member voted against the measure at Tuesday’s meeting. Councilman Danny Meeks was absent and did not vote.
Any taxi driver working within Portsmouth city limits can now charge passengers for the cost of a two-way toll.
The ride from Portsmouth to Norfolk International Airport costs about $30 with no toll.
