It’s no bull: Va. police seek stolen semen

MOUNT SOLON, Va. (AP) — The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an unusual theft: $250 worth of bull semen.

Lt. Dennis Back said Tuesday 10 containers of the semen were reported missing from a Mount Solon, which is located about halfway between Staunton and Harrisonburg. They were stolen from a barn.

Jean Schofield is with the North American Breeders Inc., a semen collection center in Berryville. She said if the semen wasn’t stored in liquid nitrogen, it’s probably worthless.

Schofield told the News Leader of Staunton ( bull semen is used to selectively breed specific traits.

High-quality bull semen can fetch as much as $400 to $500.
