One arrested, one sought in mob assault

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Police are looking for a man wanted on charges connected to a mob assault last year.

The assault occurred around 12:30 a.m. at the Steelhouse Tavern in the 14300 block of Warwick Boulevard Dec. 29. Lou Thurston with the Newport News Police Department said officers learned of the assault after two men went to the hospital for treatment. One of the victims was transferred to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

As a result of the investigation, warrants were issued for 24-year-old Terrell Billingslea of Newport News and James Scott, 23, of Hampton on two counts of malicious wounding by a mob. Billingslea turned himself in early Monday morning, but Scott remains at large.

Scott is described as a black male standing 6’ and weighing about 218 pounds. He has black hair and black eyes.
