PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A firefighter was injured during a fire in Portsmouth Monday afternoon.

Chief Jim Hoffler with the Portsmouth Fire Department told WAVY.com the call came in around noon in the 3800 block of Youpon Street.

Firefighters removed two dogs and two cats from the home. A third cat wouldn’t let firefighters near it, but Hoffler said it’s okay.

The fire was contained to an attached garage. No one was home at the time of the fire.

The injured firefighter hurt her ankle and was taken to the hospital.

Hoffler said the rest of the home suffered some smoke damage.
