Tribe wins third straight road game, beats Northeastern 82-70

BOSTON (AP) — Marcus Thornton scored 17 of his 25 points in the first half as William & Mary throttled Northeastern early en route to an 82-70 victory on Saturday night.

A 3-pointer by Thornton staked the Tribe (15-8, 7-3 Colonial Athletic Association) to a 45-18 lead at halftime. At one point in the early going, Northeastern was shooting just 16.7 percent, missing 15 of its first 18 shots.

Tim Rusthoven and Omar Prewitt scored 13 each for the Tribe which, after hitting a blistering 10 of their first 12 shots, ended the game at 55.3 percent.

William & Mary led 8-0 in just 2 minutes.

The Huskies (8-17, 5-6) trailed by as many as 33 with 11:14 to play, and clawed back to 71-61 at 1:25 left.

Demetrius Pollard led Northeastern with 13 points. Scott Eatherton, who leads the nation with 15 double-doubles, scored 11 but finished with just seven boards.
