NN woman sentenced in gang-related murder

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – A 26-year-old woman will spend nearly three years behind bars for her role in a gang-related murder in 2008.

Tayvonna Licorish of Newport News was sentenced to 33 months for misprision of a felony. Misprision is defined as “concealment of treason or felony by one who is not a participant in the treason or felony.”

Court records indicate Licorish’s boyfriend Aronte Jarvis was a member of the gang known as “Thug Relations.” Jarvis gunned Jonte Terry down in the K-mart parking lot on Feb. 3, 2008 and witnesses said Licorish was driving the vehicle as Terry tried to flee.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said the gun used in the murder was given to a gang member to be hidden from law enforcement.

Licorish pled guilty in October of 2013.

Jarvis was sentenced to life in prison in September 2013.
