Rape suspect arrested in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Suffolk Police have located a man accused of raping a female victim he knew in January.

Diana Klink with Suffolk Police said 54-year-old Curtis Jones, Sr. of the 200 block of Pine Street was wanted on two charges of rape, two charges of aggravated sexual battery and two charges of abduction with intent to defile.

Jones was arrested Wednesday on the charges. Klink said additional charges are forthcoming.

Jones allegedly knew the female victim, who told police the incidents happened between January 20 and January 24. Klink said the investigation into the incidents is ongoing and police believe there may be additional victims.

“The victim actually came forward and advised other family members who contacted the police, and as I mentioned this took a very brave individual to come forward,” Klink told WAVY.com. “This type of victimization had been going on for a number of years. We’re hoping that any individuals that might have additional information, especially based on these types of charges, that they would also feel comfortable in coming forward since Mr. Jones is currently behind bars.”
