NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A rally was held in Norfolk on the eve of a historic day for marriage equality in Virginia.
10 On Your Side was there for a rally before Tuesday’s hearing in Norfolk Federal Court. A judge will hear the case brought forth by two gay couples who say Virginia’s amendment prohibiting gay marriage violates the U.S. Constitution.
“As a lesbian and a lifelong resident of Virginia, I don’t want to be treated different juts because they’ve labeled me that way,” said a participant at the rally.
WAVY.com learned the group “Stand Up For Marriage” will hold its own rally Tuesday in front of the federal courthouse. The group is made of Virginians who think marriage should remain between a man and a woman.
