VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach may end up having its own professional baseball team after all.
WAVY News Sports Director Bruce Rader reports the Virginia Beach City Council will be briefed Tuesday on a plan to bring a minor league team to the resort city where it will play in a five to six thousand seat stadium alongside the Va. Beach Sportsplex.
The owners of the team, Virginia Beach Professional Baseball, LLC, will also build a 13-field youth tournament complex adjacent to the stadium. The cost of the project is expected to be around $40 million dollars, and the group says it will be completely privately financed.
If council likes the idea Tuesday, a public hearing will be held to discuss the project and then council will make a final vote on Feb. 11. Count on WAVY.com to keep you updated on the latest details of this developing story.
