NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Newport News Police have charged a mother with DWI after a crash Sunday night.
Harold Eley with Newport News Police told WAVY.com officers were dispatched to the area of 48th Street and Roanoke Avenue around 9:40 p.m. for a report of a possible accident. There, they found a vehicle in the bushes surrounding a cell tower on the south side of 48th Avenue.
Eley said the driver and her three children were in the middle of the intersection. All were cleared medically but the driver had an odor of alcohol.
According to police the driver, identified as Tuanchai Reynolds, was unable to perform sobriety tests. Reynolds was arrested and charged with DWI: first offense, BAC .15 percent to 2.0 percent and three counts of child abuse/neglect.
