Middle Tennessee beats Old Dominion 64-48

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Shawn Jones had 20 points and 10 rebounds Saturday night to lead Middle Tennessee over Old Dominion 64-48 in the second all-time meeting between the schools.

Jones was 9 of 11 from the floor, made both of his free throws and grabbed five of his boards on the offensive glass.

Kerry Hammonds II added 14 points for the Blue Raiders (15-7, 5-2 Conference USA) who used a 10-1 run to build a 43-33 second-half advantage and a 14-3 run to extend their lead to 57-40 with 6:14 to play.

Old Dominion (10-12, 4-3) took an 11-4 lead to open the game.

Middle Tennessee answered with 11 straight points to take the lead for good on its way to a 29-24 halftime lead.

Dimitri Batten had 14 points, Aaron Bacote added 13 and Richard Ross scored 11 for the Monarchs.
