Nathan Epstein is the newest member of the WAVY-TV/FOX43 Sportswrap team.
Nathan comes to WAVY from WDAM-TV in Hattiesburg, Miss., where he spent the past couple of years as sports director of the NBC affiliate. While in Hattiesburg, Nathan covered the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles while concentrating on local sports. He spent his Sundays covering the New Orleans Saints and reported from the 2013 Super Bowl between the Ravens and 49ers.
Nathan has been involved in sports broadcasting from a very young age, starting off calling into talk radio shows from the age of 13 and later interning at Sports Radio 910 in Richmond at age 16. As a first semester freshman at Longwood University in Farmville, Va., Nathan immediately got involved with the campus radio station, beginning the process of returning live sports broadcasts, which had all but disappeared from the station for the previous five years.
In four years with the campus radio station, Nathan helped transform a non-existent sports broadcasting committee into one recognized with 3 consecutive Virginia Association of Broadcasters Awards for Outstanding Sports Coverage by a Non-Profit Station.
Also during his four years with the campus radio station, Nathan hosted numerous talk shows, not only centering around sports, but also on news, features and current events pertinent to the university, and had the privilege to interview one of his idols, ESPN commentator Chris Fowler in that time as well.
Nathan is an avid fan of the University of Virginia Cavaliers, but is also a huge fan of college football.
Nathan grew up in Richmond and interned with the WAVY-TV 10/FOX 43 sports department while attending Longwood University.
