Liz Palka is proud to be part of the WAVY TV 10 and FOX 43 family. She joined the team as a reporter in November 2011.
The Commonwealth is where Liz started her career. Her first job after college was at the Charlottesville Newsplex in Charlottesville, Va. At the Newsplex, Liz reported on everything from politics to record snowfall to celebrity visits. Some of the most difficult stories she covered included the University of Virginia lacrosse murder and the disappearance of Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington.
From Charlottesville, Liz moved to Greensboro, N.C. where she worked at WFMY News 2. The story that Liz will always remember from the Piedmont Triad is when tornadoes plowed across the entire state in April 2011. She reported from the destruction locally and in Sanford, N.C.
Liz graduated from Elon University’s School of Communications. She’s a self-proclaimed “Maryland girl,” raised outside of Washington, D.C. in Gaithersburg, Md. If she’s not watching the Washington Nationals from her home in Virginia Beach, there’s a good chance she’s out and about in the community. Liz spends a lot of time volunteering for Girls on the Run of South Hampton Roads. She serves as a running buddy for elementary age girls in the program and works on the GOTR SoleMates committee. Running local races, kickball, and yoga keep her busy, too. She loves Hampton Roads and is grateful to call this area her second home.
