Pair robs Liberty Tax in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Two men robbed a Portsmouth tax preparation business Saturday morning, and police need help identifying them.

Det. Misty Holley with the Portsmouth Police Department said the robbery occurred around 11:10 a.m. at the Liberty Tax Service located in the 100 block of Chowan Drive.

When officers arrived, they discovered two male suspects entered the business and demanded money from the woman working there. She complied and they were able to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No one was injured.

The first suspect is described as a black male standing between 5’11” and 6’ and weighing between 165 and 180 pounds. He is believed to be between 26 and 28 years of age and was last seen wearing a black coat, jeans, white sneakers and a brown scarf covering his face.

The second suspect is described as a black male standing about 5’8” to 5’9” and between 250 to 280 pounds. He’s believed to be between the ages of 22 and 26. He was last seen wearing a black coat, black hooded sweatshirt, jeans, red and black sneakers and facial hair. He was armed with a large survival knife, Holley said.
