Fire sparks at vacant Portsmouth house

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Firefighters extinguished a fire at a vacant home in Portsmouth lat Wednesday evening.

Chief Hoffler with the Portsmouth Fire Department confirmed crews were dispatched to a residential fire in the 2300 block of Parker Avenue Wednesday night. Around 11 p.m., the fire was declared under control.

Hoffler said the house is vacant, although gas and electricity are hooked up.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
