FRANKLIN, Va. (WAVY) – Franklin Police need help finding a man who tried to rob the Dairy Queen Monday night.

Lt. T.W. Whitt with the Franklin Police Department said the suspect ordered a meal at the drive thru around 10:30 p.m. at the location on Armory Drive. When he pulled around to the pickup window, he was wearing a blaze orange ski mask and brandishing a handgun.

Before he could even say anything, the cashier “implemented threat procedures” and the suspect fled.

The suspect is described as a white male wearing a red jacket at the time of the incident. He was driving a green Chevrolet full size, crew cab pickup truck with what appears to be a small tool box mounted in the bed behind the cab.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Franklin Police Department at 757-562-8575 or Franklin Crime Solvers at 757-562-8599.
