NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) is planning to resume certain services Thursday.
HRT says it will resume regular ferry and light rail service, but keep buses off the street for another day while snow clearing continues. According to HRT, bus service is delayed because many primary and secondary streets are still difficult for buses to navigate. Bus stops are also difficult for customers to access.
HRT had planned to run on a reduced “Sunday” schedule on Wednesday, Jan. 29 because of the latest winter storm but road conditions proved too poor. Wednesday morning, HRT announced that it cancelled all service for the day. As a preventative measure, HRT ran a ‘sweeper train’ to keep ice off the overhead lines.
