NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Police are working to determine the circumstances of a teenager being shot multiple times Monday evening.
Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department said a 911 call came in around 7:22 p.m. about shots fired in the 1100 block of 27th Street. While officers were responding to the scene, the call was upgraded to a shooting.
A 19-year-old was found, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Eley said he is conscious and talking and being taken to a local hospital for treatment. His injuries appear to not be life-threatening.
Officers are canvassing the area to try and find out all was involved in the shooting. Eley said the victim is being uncooperative.
