VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – At least five people have been displaced because of a multi-residential structure fire in the Green Run section of Virginia Beach Thursday afternoon.
Fire crews responded to a building in the 3300 block of Ship Chandlers Wharf for a report of a chimney fire that extended to the roof and attic, according to Battalion Chief Amy Valdez with the Virginia Beach Fire Department.
Firefighters controlled the fire and searched the entire structure, finding no people inside.
There were five people in the building at the time of the fire, but they were all able to exit uninjured. Valdez said they will be displaced due to fire damage, but the Red Cross has been contacted to assist them.
Two adjacent structures were ventilated for smoke extension.
