NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The U.S. Navy’s top commander visited Hampton Roads Friday.
The Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Jonathon Greenert met with Sailors and marines for what’s called an “all-hands call.”
10 On Your Side’s military reporter, Art Kohn, was at Little Creek for the meeting, where the admiral spent a lot of time talking about preventing sexual assaults in the military.
According to a report recently released by the Pentagon, there were well over 3,000 sexual assaults reported in the military last fiscal year, which ended in September. But there were many more that went unreported by victims afraid of some kind of recrimination. The Pentagon estimates more than 26,000 members may have been assaulted.
