NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The USS Cole’s Command Master Chief was relieved of his duties Thursday after an investigation of his relationship with a Sailor aboard the ship.

After a command investigation, former CMC Larry Dean was found guilty of an “unduly familiar relationship” with a junior enlisted Sailor at a non-judicial punishment hearing. He was relieved of his duties as the senior enlisted leader on the USS Cole by COLE Commanding Officer, Cmdr. Dennis Farrell.

The Navy said Dean is temporarily assigned to Commander, Naval Surface Forces Atlantic.

Dean’s replacement aboard the USS Cole has not yet been determined.
