JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – A Richmond man has been charged in connection to a robbery at a 7-Eleven store in James City County and police say he robbed the store after killing his mother.
Maj. Steve Rubino with the James City County Police Department said the robbery occurred Jan. 4 at the store in the 7200 block of Richmond Road.
The suspect, identified as Ronnie Samuel Cook, 44, of Richmond reportedly entered the store and asked to purchase a lottery ticket. Rubino said Cook threatened the clerk and ordered her to give him lottery tickets, money and several packs of cigarettes before walking toward the bathroom.
As the clerk walked to the bathroom, Cook left on foot. No weapon was displayed.
Rubino said prior to the robbery, Cook stabbed his 78-year-old mother to death in Richmond. Cook is also suspected of robbing a Henrico County Shell Station that same day as well.
He was arrested Jan. 5 and remains incarcerated in Richmond on murder charges.
