Charlottesville, Va. (WAVY) – The suspect in the case of a missing Nelson County teen has been indicted with first degree murder, according to WAVY’s sister station in Charlottesville, NBC29.
NBC29 reports that during a special grand jury hearing in Nelson County Circuit Court Monday, Randy Allen Taylor was indicted with first degree murder during the commission of abduction and abduction with intent to defile.
The indictments mean only that the grand jury found enough probable cause exists for Taylor to go to trial on the charges — not that he is guilty of them.
17-year-old Alexis Murphy was last seen on August 3 at a gas station after leaving her home in Nelson County to go shopping in Lynchburg. Charlottesville Police found her abandoned car in a parking lot three days later, and Richmond FBI agents arrested and charged 48-year-old Taylor as a suspect.
Taylor will stand trial in May.
