NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Norfolk Police have arrested a father for murder in the death investigation of his four-month-old baby.
30-year-old Frederico L. Vick was initially charged with child neglect on Sunday after his infant was rushed to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters.
Chris Amos with the Norfolk Police Department said someone called 911 for an unresponsive baby at an apartment complex in the 800 block of East Princess Anne Road. The infant passed away at the hospital on Tuesday.
When the Norfolk Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the baby’s death a homicide, Vick was charged with murder, Amos said.
Police have not released any information on how the child died, but say no one else was charged in relation to the death. Amos said he does not think the child’s mother was at the home when the baby was unresponsive.
Vick is being held in Norfolk City Jail.
